Welcome to Lebanon -- One of Illinois' Most Historic & Haunted Small Towns!

Join the Illinois Hauntings Tours & Len Adams for a historic and frightening tour through one of Southern Illinois' most beautiful, and haunted, small towns.
Lebanon was founded in 1804 but the culture here dates back to pre-history, as evidence by Emerald Mound, located just outside of town. Lebanon is also home to Illinois' oldest college, McKendree, which was founded in 1824.

Charles Dickens, during his travels in America, stopped in Lebanon in 1842 while visiting the Looking Glass Prairie. The Mermaid Inn, built in 1830, served as his stopover point on his journey west.

Lebanon's main street stands alone as a ghost hunters' paradise. From mysterious underground tunnels to phone calls from the beyond, you'll jump between the present and the past, the living and the dead with this chilling tour!

Based on Len Adams' upcoming book, Ghosts of the Looking Glass Prairie, the Haunted Lebanon tour is a 3-hour walking, spine tingling, history lesson of historic, and very haunted, Lebanon, Illinois.

The Haunted Lebanon Tours are History & Hauntings Walking Tours of the Main Streets of this Beautiful Southern Illinois Town. The tours are hosted by Author & American Ghost Society Vice-President, Len Adams.

History & Hauntings Walking Tours: Our Haunted Lebanon Tour of spirited sites in old downtown Lebanon area and each tour lasts approximately 3 hours. The tour will include not only the ghost stories behind each of the reputedly haunted sites, but their detailed history as well. This tour has proven to be especially popular with ghost enthusiasts and history buffs alike and includes visits inside haunted locations (number depends on availability), odd and unusual stories and facts about the city and more! $20 per person

History & Hauntings Ghost Hunter's Tour:  An expanded edition of the Haunted Lebanon Tour with additional locations and a "behind the scenes" look at the places that make this small town so haunted! More History, More Hauntings and an additional hour of sites that aren't normally featured on the standard tours! Lasts approximately 4 hours. $30 per person

Public Tours: Public Tours are offered throughout the spring, summer and fall, with special tours being offered in the Halloween season. All tickets are sold on a reservations-only basis and are first come / first served according to when reservations are received. Spaces are limited for all tours. Price: $20 - $30 per person

Dinner Tours: Both Public & Private dinner tours can be arranged with the Tapestry Room Restaurant in Lebanon and feature a full dinner, tour of the restaurant and then walking tour of haunted sites throughout the city. Public dinner tours will be posted on the schedule above and private dinners must be arranged at least 45 days in advance. Price: $45 Per Person

Private Tours: Private Haunted Lebanon Tours are available for groups of 20 people or more. A 30-day notice and deposit are required for reservations. Private tours are available to customized to include dinner and other options. Prices start at $20 per person. Check with us about customizing your tour! (Note: Private Tours during the month of October must be booked at least 45 days in advance)

Note: Alcohol is not allowed on the Haunted Lebanon Tours and any guests who appear to be visibly intoxicated will be removed from the tours. No Exceptions!
Tour Departures

Lebanon is located just 23 miles east of St. Louis along Interstate 64.
Mid America Airport is three miles to the south and Scott Air Force Base is just seven miles southwest.

All of our tours depart from the Lebanon Visitor's Center, located at 221 West St. Louis Street. Lebanon Information,

Len Adams
 Len Adams is the Vice-President, Chief of Operations and Investigation Coordinator  of The American Ghost Society and lead guide for Troy Taylor’s Alton Hauntings Tours in southwestern Illinois. He has been actively investigating ghosts for many years and currents handles the AGS investigations for most of downstate Illinois. His first book, So, There I Was..., co-written with Troy Taylor, was released in Spring 2006. He is at work on his next book, Ghosts of the Looking Glass Prairie.

Len has been hosting ghost tours in Alton for several years, as well as haunted overnights in Southern Illinois, and has also appeared in a number of newspaper articles about ghosts and hauntings. He has been interviewed numerous times for radio and television broadcasts about the paranormal and has been featured for several local news broadcasts. He has also served as a public speaker for private and public groups in St. Louis and the surrounding area. Born in St. Louis and raised in southern Illinois, Len now resides in Belleville with his wife, Kim. His current house is “ghost free” but as he says --- “there’s always hope”.
